Thursday, April 8th , 2151
Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Mrej Kubicek of the Zapopan Aztecs had one of those moments when he went 5-for-5 at the plate in his team's 14-2 win over the South Bend Leprechauns at Ballpark of South Bend.
"I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 24-year-old first baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years."
Mrej Kubicek singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Edgar Peña in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
So far this season, Kubicek is batting .545 with 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has 12 hits in 22 at-bats, 9 walks and a .656 OBP. Kubicek has played in 6 games.
