Generals Prevail, 5-3, Over Melbourne
|
With shortstop Justin Boughey leading the charge, the Rome Generals defeated the Melbourne Meteors, 5-3, at The Colosseum. Boughey, who leads the IBL in triples with 3, went 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Rome reliever Nasser Moreau picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Heherson Bongolan shouldered the loss. Tom Davis closed it out for his 4th save.
Boughey had a clutch at-bat in the bottom of the sixth for the Generals. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Rome trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single.
"This was a good win," said Boughey.
The win brings the Generals to 11-9, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
