Mexico City Whitewashed by Taberner
|
The Mexico City Aztecs manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Chicago Beefs. The Aztecs were overpowered by Chicago starter Mahon Taberner, who hurled his club to victory, 5-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Square Drive said.
Over 9 innings, Taberner blanked Mexico City on 5 hits with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Taberner said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
Taberner has fashioned a 4-1 mark for the season, 1.33 ERA and thrown 54 innings in 7 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .176 against him.
