Generals Lose to Foxes, 7-6
|
Despite a great performance by Rome left fielder Herbert Jebens, the Black Forest Foxes defeated the Generals by the score of 7-6 at The Den. Jebens was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Mariano Ochoa earned the win for Black Forest. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 2-5. Meany Pyne picked up the save, his 7th.
Mufeed bin Samman, the Black Forest center fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 6-4, Foxes. For the game, bin Samman went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Rome manager Tx Horns. "But we decided not to take it."
Black Forest, now 16-18, holds down second place in the Intercontinental Baseball League Afro-European Division.
