Beijing Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Bird's Nest was host to some action-packed drama.
The Beijing Emperors topped the Melbourne Meteors, 4-3, in Intercontinental Baseball League action at The Bird's Nest. The standout performance belonged to Beijing pitcher and Muramvya, Burundi, native Markos Fakihi. Beijing reliever Almas bin Abbud picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Iván González absorbed the loss.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Beijing trailing 3-2, Jesús Quintanilla hit a fastball from Iván González to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Emperors had a walk-off win.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Quintanilla.
The Emperors sport a record of 34-58.
