Monks Win at Black Forest, 2-1

Daegu Monks starter Cipriano Sánchez was in fine form against the Black Forest Foxes at The Den, leading his team to a win, 2-1. Sánchez picked up the win for Daegu, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 10-3. Mike Allison notched his 23rd save in 25 chances.
Daegu used the timely hitting of Philippe Mollet to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Monks on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The old adage is true," said Mollet. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
Daegu, at 65-34, is 11 games up in the Intercontinental Baseball League Asian Division.
