Jaguars Get One-Run Win at Gitche Gumee
|
Gitche Gumee Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars and Gitche Gumee Fitzies.
The Rio de Janeiro Jaguars beat the Gitche Gumee Fitzies, 3-2, at Gitche Gumee Stadium. The Jaguars got a fine performance from pitcher Yong-zhan Chien, who threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Chien, now 4-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 2, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. Félix Soto notched his 20th save in 24 chances.
Rio de Janeiro used the clutch hitting of Lu-shan Sheng to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Jaguars ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Rio de Janeiro manager Echo 127. "Our pregame was pretty good."
Rio de Janeiro is now riding a 4-game win streak.
