Behind a fine performance from Bahupatu Ranjitsinhji, the El Paso Thunderbirds knocked off the Mexico City Aztecs, 7-5. Ranjitsinhji was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks for the Thunderbirds. Qian-fu Luo earned his 30th save in 32 chances. El Paso now has a record of 77-36 with the win.

El Paso used the clutch hitting of Ángel Fernández to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Fernández told the El Paso Daily. "It's as simple as that."
