Thunderdome was the site of an exciting ballgame between the El Paso Thunderbirds and Mexico City Aztecs.

The El Paso Thunderbirds weathered an outstanding game by Mexico City right fielder Song Liu to topple the Aztecs, 4-3. Liu went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Dae-il Kim, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 2-1.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Ángel Fernández came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Mexico City pitcher John Flowers, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting El Paso on top, 4-3.

"I felt good up there," said Fernández. "I saw the ball well."

The win puts El Paso at 86-39 this season.
