Shogun Defeat Meteors, 5-4
|
The Tokyo Shogun weathered a fine game by Melbourne right fielder Gualter Bonito to upend the Meteors, 5-4, at Tokyo Ballpark. Bonito went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Oukesson Ukiru came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 6-2. The second-place Shogun have won 5 in a row.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Tokyo shortstop Cremente Hespanha, facing Tim Keller, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Shogun the 5-4 win.
Hespanha called the triumph "a good team win."
