The Sao Paulo Toucans did just enough to secure a victory over the Chicago Beefs, 6-5, at Toucans Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Jacques De Sores. Sao Paulo reliever Ha-ro Lee picked up the win to move to 8-2. Mahmood Hashemi suffered the loss. Chong-yee Ming notched his 33rd save in 40 chances.
Vereeniging, South Africa-born Madidu Madraa came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Toucans trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Sao Paulo on top.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," De Sores told the Sao Paulo Herald.
The Toucans have an impressive 83-53 record.
