Emperors Clip Monks, 3-2
|
The Daegu Monks got a superb performance from pitcher Cipriano Sánchez, but the Beijing Emperors still won the game, 3-2. Sánchez threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The winner was Ángel Carbajal in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Qian-fu Jiang took the loss. Kyung-nam Pak earned the save for Beijing, his 3rd of the year.
Duecha Jela had a productive at-bat for the Emperors with one out in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 1st, the second baseman hit a run-scoring double. The at-bat was important in the Beijing win.
Jela said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The Emperors go to 15-26 with the win.
