Stars Need Extra Frames to Get Past Beefs
|
Los Angeles and Chicago played a hard-fought contest.
Bari Talal had a good game, but he could not keep the Chicago Beefs from falling, 3-2, to the Los Angeles Stars at Beefs Stadium. The Chicago center fielder was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times in the loss. Salif Mtangulizi came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-5. Karl Rogers, credited with the save, is now 11 for 16 in save opportunities.
Los Angeles used the clutch hitting of She Feng to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Stars the lead, 3-2. For the game, Feng had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Chicago manager Mikes L. Son.
The third-place Stars improved to 67-79.
