6-2 Win Takes Generals to 87-61
|
The Rome Generals topped the Nairobi Black Rhinos, 6-2, with left fielder Bertrand Thorington playing a big role. Thorington went 1 for 1 with a home run and 4 walks for the Generals in the win. The winner was José Salazar, who threw 104 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits. Rome has now won 4 straight.
Herbert Jebens, who is a four-time Defender of the Year Award winner, aided the Rome cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the third. For the game, the right fielder drove in one run.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Jebens.
