The Los Angeles Stars picked up a win at Field of the Stars, knocking off the Puerto Rico Coqui, 4-3. On the mound for Los Angeles was right-hander Kazimierz Bonkski, who played a pivotal role in the win. Bonkski went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 9-19. At 68-81, the Stars are currently third in the Americas Baseball League North American Division.
Juan Cardenas drove in one run for Los Angeles. The 25-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Giacomo Cafagna. It was his 67th RBI of the season.
"I really like what we did out there today," Bonkski said after the game.
