Jaguars Losing Streak at 8 After Extra-Inning Loss to Palmchats
|
The Santo Domingo Palmchats powered past the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars, 9-5, at Rio de Janeiro Grounds. Jack Mitchell went 7 for 8 with 7 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once, to lead the charge. Santo Domingo reliever Madhavrao Satyen picked up the win, raising his record to 8-3. Enrique Cordero was tagged with the loss. The losses continue to mount for Rio de Janeiro, which has now dropped 8 in a row.
Santo Domingo used the clutch hitting of Peng Chin to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a solo home run in the top of the 15th inning to put the Palmchats ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Huck L. Berry said.
