Yoshitoshi Murata never let Mexico City get something going. The Los Angeles right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Stars to a 2-1 win. Murata got the win, improving to 3-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. Murata allowed 1 run. Ognjeslav Kukcenjac closed the door for Los Angeles, picking up his 11th save of the year.

Juan Cruz dealt the Aztecs a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Los Angeles trailing 1-0, Cruz, who finished 3rd in the IBL in doubles with 41 in 2138, hit a first pitch curveball for a 2-run single.

"This losing is getting old," said Mexico City manager Square Drive.

The misery continues for the Aztecs, which has now dropped 14 in a row.
