Toucans Lose to Coqui, 2-1
|
The Sao Paulo Toucans wasted an impressive 6-inning effort from starter George LeBlanc, falling 2-1 to the Puerto Rico Coqui at Ballpark of San Juan. Puerto Rico reliever Chih-hsiung Chiang picked up the win, while George LeBlanc took the loss for Sao Paulo. Jorge Ocampo earned his 48th save in 49 chances.
Lars Ryti drew 1 walk in 3 trips to the plate for Puerto Rico. The 29-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off George LeBlanc. It was his 29th walk of the season.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Ryti, "and then get after it again."
The win elevated the Coqui to 86-70.
