Emperors Lose to Shogun, 4-2
|
Tokyo picked up a win at Tokyo Ballpark, bumping off the Beijing Emperors, 4-2. Pitcher Yoshinori Matsushita was a major reason the Shogun emerged victorious. Matsushita picked up the win for Tokyo, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. Kei-thing Shang was called on to finish, recording his 12th save.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and two out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when shortstop Bhusakra Venkatraman, who finished 5th in the IBL in doubles with 38 in 2144, hit a solo home run. The Shogun went on to win.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Venkatraman.
Tokyo now has a record of 24-20 with the win.
