Ainslie Delivers Walk-Off Win for Coqui
|
The Mexico City Aztecs got a sterling performance from pitcher Warren Manstein, but the Puerto Rico Coqui still prevailed, 3-2. Manstein threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Sigit Pane earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-2. Puerto Rico raised its record to 30-27 with the win.
William Ainslie was the walk-off hero for Puerto Rico. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Coqui left fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
Afterward, Coqui manager Kir By was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
