Beijing Newcomer August's #1 Rookie Friday, September 1st , 2147 Miguel Colón won the Rookie of the Month Award in the Intercontinental Baseball League today. After posting 4 wins and 1 loss in 6 starts during August, the Beijing Emperors starter seemed an obvious choice for the honor. He struck out 16 and walked 10 in 43.2 innings and appears to be settling in nicely in the league. If this is any indication of his future success, fans of the Emperors are in for a treat for several years to come. Colón has gone 5-1 this season with an ERA of 2.44 and 23 strikeouts in 51.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .219 against him. |
