van Huistede Hits for Cycle Against Lille Sunday, July 27th , 2138 It was a special day for Greg van Huistede at Lightning Ballpark -- the Okayama Shogun right fielder hit for the cycle, getting every type of hit possible. The 22-year-old van Huistede racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to get his name in the history books. It was all for naught, however, as the Shogun didn't win the ballgame, dropping the decision to the Lille Fleur-de-Lis, 7-2. "He hit everything we threw," said Lille manager . "There was just no getting him out today." For the game, he was 4-for-4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. "I'm glad for Greg," Okayama manager said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and a nice feather in his cap. Would've been better if we could have won the game for him, too." Speaking to the press after the game, van Huistede said the key for his record-setting day was "just getting some good pitches to hit." Greg van Huistede singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Aaron Evans in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and tripled in the 8th. Currently van Huistede is hitting .236 and has collected 6 home runs, 35 RBIs and scored 39 times, while playing in 93 games. |
