Constitutional Amendments / Minimum roster limits vote
« on: June 13, 2020, 09:40:19 AM »
We are voting on implementing minimum roster limits for the league.  The limits will be community policed so if you see a team violating the limits just shoot Huck a message and let him take care of it.  Mostly this is to keep a good competitive balance and to prevent there from being any question on Huck's part and whether he should go ahead and auto someone or not.  It also combats inactivity from an owner.  My intent is also to not just auto active GMs.  My plan is outlined below...

All rosters both in the major leagues and minor leagues should have a minimum of 23 players on it.  Additionally rosters should include at least 10 pitchers and 11 position players, 2 of which should be catchers.  Any team in violation of the rule is subject to the commissioner auto organizing their whole organization.  Any team who has exported within the last calendar week gets a 2 sim grace period to fix the issue or explain their reasoning behind their roster management.  This rule is only valid for the regular season.

General WBA Discussion / Injury Settings
« on: May 03, 2018, 09:31:57 AM »
I think we really need to take a look at the injury settings in our league.  We currently have them set at Low.  There is a Very Low setting or off completely.  I do not believe that the injuries should be turned completely off but I certainly think we should move to Very Low.  I simply think there are too many injuries in the league.  Our league is set a 100 years into the future, surely there have been some medical advancements between now and then.

I would be in favor of completely eliminating the storyline injuries, fucking muggers, though.  Right now it is rare for a MLB player to miss time due to an injury that occurred outside of baseball.  I realize it does happen, MadBum and Perez, but it's an anomaly when it does.  So why do we have multiple players missing time each sim due to these storyline injuries?

Too be completely fair let me explain where I am coming from as I may juse be really cused and overreacting...I joined this league in the middle of the 2104 season taking over what may have been the worst situation any organization has been in in our league.  It took me 5 years to rebuild and in 2109 I finally had a breakout season winning 97 games while having my entire roster minus a backup and 2 average relievers returning for the 2110 season.  Then I had a great offseason by adding 2 superstars.  (I credit that trade with sending Bob over the ledge into a death spiral of despair)  then for the next 3 years my young star players have ALL been desimated with injuries.  For the last 3 seasons I have been one of the 2 least luckiest teams regarding injuries.  Already for the 2113 season I have 3 starters and my top 2 relievers on the DL to start the year.  This has caused a ton of fustration for me but more importantly has kept me from being able to enjoy the league at all.

Now I understand that injuries happen in baseball, which is why I do not wish to see them completely turned off.  My biggest issue with injuries in this game is that OOTP seems to have way overblown the reoccurring injuries.  To me it feels like if a player in this game gets injured with anything more than a DTD injury then he is doomed for the rest of his career to suffer through countless injuries.  Just on my team alone I've had multiple players quickly go from either Durable or Normal to Fragile within a year or two.

Gomer has said multiple times that this should be a game of strategy, not luck, when discussing injuries.  I agree with him mostly.  That's why I'm proposing switching injuries to the Very Low setting.  Please discuss.  (Sorry for the length of this post)

WBA Times / Dissapointing End for Rome but a Bright Future
« on: September 19, 2017, 11:06:36 AM »
It was a disappointing end to the season for the Rome Generals as they fell to division rival Black Forest in the divisional round of the playoffs.  The Generals were swept in 4 games leading to a complete meltdown from Generals manager txhorns.  The Generals were without star Ahmad Iman and starting pitcher Amulus Merah, who stupidly chased after a mugger before his start, during the series.  The defeat ended a great season for the Generals who ended the regular season with the best record in the IBL at 97-59.

Despite the failures in the playoffs the Generals have a very bright future in front of them.  They return their entire pitching staff which finished second in ERA and first in runs allowed on the year.  Ace Ming Song had his first full year in the majors which saw him post a 17-7 record with a 3.08 ERA.  Generals management expects him to be even better next year.  Immediately after the playoff loss the Generals traded for Zuleide Rainha from Santo Domingo.  With Song, Rainha and Shan-bo Laio the Generals feel that they have the best starting trio in the WBA.

The Generals saw a major youth movement at the plate in 2109. Iman, Gerald Hannah, Bei Zhang, and Ameen bin Habib all experienced their first full year in the majors.  Additionally, top prospects Jay Standish and Yong-u Park got some time with the big club this year.  Both of them will be expected to step up next year with Standish taking over in left field and Park serving as a utility infielder.  The Generals offense struggled at times this year only finishing fifth in the league in runs scored.  Much of this can be attributed to youth but management still was not satisfied so they acquired Pio Seixas in the trade for Rainha.  Seixas will provide the team a much needed lead off bat to set the table for the Iman and Melchor Sarmiento.  The Generals return their entire starting lineup for the 2110 season with the addition of Seixas, giving hope that they will improve on their 2109 numbers.

From here on the offseason should remain pretty quite for the Generals as they have already made the big trade they wanted to fill holes.  Rumor has it that they are looking around for a catcher who can hit though.  Look for the Generals to be one of the best teams in the league in 2110 and to be a prime contender for the WBA championship.

The entire Rome organization is now available for trade.  Mostly I'm looking for pitching prospects but will listen to all offers.  The following players are the best I have available:

1B Juan Hernandez - He's my best player.  He's also signed for 2 more years after this one.

http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_62.html

LF Maurilio Silveirinha - Would best be used as a 4th outfielder or to replace an injured starter.  Has good power.

http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_216.html

RF Yefu Kinoro - Also a solid 4th outfielder or replacement for an injured starter.  Does not have good power but makes solid contact.

http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_1930.html

SP Adam Maloney - Solid starting pitcher.  Signed for 2 more years after this year.

http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_239.html

CL Kumanosuke Sato - Solid closer who can sure up a bullpen.

http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_1797.html

Cl Rubem Chaby - Good closer who is signed through next year.

In shocking new Lagos ownership has announced that they will be moving the team to Rome for the 2105 season.  The team will take on a new identity in efforts to forget their unsuccessful past and ditch the reputation of ineptitude.  Upon their move the team will be renamed the Rome Generals.  They will take up residence in the newly built Coliseum Stadium in Rome.

The mood in Lagos is pretty lethargic after the announcement.  Local citizens stormed the team's front office buildings by the thousands in an effort to help the team pack for their move.  But at the stadium it was a different story as fans gathered by the tens of people to protest the bulldozing of the field that was already taking place.  Lagos Mayor Abadom Akintola said, "The loss of the Eagles franchise will be devastating to the baseball fans in our city.  As for the other 95% of residents, they will make better use of the farmer's market that we will be constructing on the site of the old stadium."

Along with the announcement the team revealed their new logos and uniforms to be used in Rome.  They also announced that the minor league affiliates will be moving to the cities of Florence, Milan, Venice and Naples.
