The below list of guys are ML-caliber, but I don't have room for them. I'm looking for draft pick capital. I can send some $$$ your way with the players to improve the pick I'd get. They've all got league minimum salary unless noted otherwise. RF Aires Vicncio - Elite defense at RF, decent defense at CF, great platoon option vs. Righties. (Could maybe trade LF Daniel Clark or CF Oscar Hill, instead). 3B Doug Taylor - He's an almost-ready prospect. Strong defense at 3B. Just a lil bit of development away from having an impact bat. SS Owen Stanton - $3M salary, last year of his contract. I'm trading defense for offense in the infield this year, so Stanton will probably be sitting in Recife waiting for injuries. 2B Piero Folena - No room for him. $2M salary, last year of his contract. Only caveat is I can't trade him until after the first sim of the regular season. I want him to get a week on my roster so that if I win anything this year he gets a share of the prize :-). RP Apomurti Perumal - 10/6/4 ratings. RP Julian Delgado - 9/5/5 ratings. Possible lefty specialist. SP/RP Jose Ortiz - 9/3/7 ratings as RP, 8/3/7 as SP. OF Pedro Fernandez - 25 yr old rookie. Good defensive ratings across the board. Decent bat with a bit more room for growth yet. Could be a long-term option to platoon vs. LHP (and defensive backup), but I've got another similar but better prospect not far behind him. Can also pitch a bit. IF Jean Lambert - 27 minor league lifer for Rio. 6/9/5/4 batting ratings on both sides of the plate. Elite defense at 3B, potential to be a very good defender at 2B and a decent one at SS. ALSO!!!! I have too much money. Should've bought Ulisses. If there are any competing teams looking to add money/cut salary/swap star power for depth give me a PM on slack. I'd be interested in packaging one of my starters + $$$ or another player for an upgrade at some position.

« on: August 26, 2018, 09:09:01 AM »
The one-sentence-summary of my trading block is: Rio wants to compete in 2116. If I think a trade will help me open my "window" then, I'll do it. - I have plenty of "good" prospects, but not a ton of "great" prospects, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. I would like to package multiple "good" prospects to aquire "great" prospects.
- I want to build some cash reserves. This can mean trading a replaceable prospect for cash or getting rid of my SP's who are still being overpaid on "legacy" contracts. SP Dhrtadhiti Indrani and SP Edward Davis. I just want to move these two. They are both on their final year and I will give you money to take them without expecting anything in return (other than the cash savings from moving their contracts). They're not doing any good if they win me games this season XD
- SP Robinson Cordero and SP Ben Reese are also available, but I'm content to keep them around until 2116. I think I've got them on pretty reasonable contracts.
- If I can't find a "great" SS prospect for trade, I'd like to find one with great defense and a decent bat vs. righties. For example, a Left-handed-hitting version of this guy would be nice.
- 3B Gabriel Delvalle just finished his rookie season. I held him out of the ML level for a few weeks so he's still got the full length of team control available. I could use him in 2116, but I feel like I'll be wasting his peak playing him this season (look at those ratings vs. Righties!!!). If you've got a similar player who is a year away, yet, I'd be interested in a swap.
- Other players at ther ML level besides the aforementioned pitchers are also available. The only one that is fully off-limits is C Sixto Ramirez.
- If you're interested in dealing with me let me know and I can look at your system and tell you what I'd be interested in.

I've been planning to do this for a while, but just never got around to it. ----------------------------------- 2B Ricardo Ramirez's induction has been a long time coming, considering he officially retired in 2111 and hasn't played in the WBA since 2108. Ramirez was Rio's first pick in the inaugural daft (before my time). He served as Rio's leadoff hitter from 2100 through 2106 and boasts a career OBP of exactly 0.400 (currently Rio's career and single-season leader in that category). Ramirez's bat never failed him, but an injury that kept him out for the entirety of the 2102 sapped a lot of his mobility, and he continued to lose more and more range every season after that. In 2106 I moved him to 3B to attempt to extend his career, but over the next offseason his range dropped to 2 and for the 2107 season I was forced to relegate him to a pinch-hitting role--which he excelled at, of couse. I tried to change his position to "DH" at this point, but Huck didn't let me because he still had a 1 rating at 1B. The following season would be Ramirez's last--Los Angeles signed him on a 1-year deal and played him regularly at 1B. He finished that season with an OBP of 0.415 and an OPS of 0.800--pretty impressive for a 38-year-old (I told you his bat never failed him!). In addition to the Rio OBP records I've already mentioned he holds Rio's single-season batting average record as well - 0.346, in 2101. His final career numbers: 964 hits, 581 walks, 550 runs, and 21.3 WAR over parts of 8 seasons. He doesn't have any spectacular career highlights that stand out--he just got on base. ----------------------------------- 3B Ernesto Colon might be a name that none of you remember. That would be because this is more of a sentimental HoF induction than a performance-based one. Colon was the first free agent signing I made after joining this league--a 4-year $8.6M deal (he played his first 3 seasons for the Twin Cities Millers [now the NW Emeralds]). He was an elite defender across the infield, but ended up playing primarily at 3B for me, since Ricardo Ramirez and Piero Folena had 2B and SS locked down. At the plate, he was all about that gap power--at one point he was the Rio career leader in doubles and triples, ahead of Ricardo Ramirez, Irving Butler, and Piero Folena. He still holds the Rio single-season triples record, with 10. Colon's performance in the first 3 years of that deal made the signing a steal. Over those 3 years he earned a total of 9.2 WAR, including 3.9 WAR in 2105--a huge part of the reason that I won the 2105 ABL Championship by mistake (some day I might need to do a write-up on that season--I thought I was rebuilding, then had a ton of players overachieve). After that point Colon's contact ability slipped--he finished with -0.2 WAR in 2106 and I signed him on a cheap 1-year extension in 2107 to keep him around as a defensive replacement. For the next 5 years Colon stayed in the organiztion as a minor leaguer and occasional short term injury replacement. Instead of sharing career stats, I'm going to highlight his performance over his 3-season peak: 427 hits, 127 doubles, 19 triples, 28 HRs. ----------------------------------- Ramirez and Colon are the 2nd and 3rd members of the Rio Hall of Fame, joining (of course) the great Ze Vargas. You can read his career summary here: http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/forum/index.php?topic=222.0

Available players are below. Folena and Ruiz may be a bit overpriced due to sentimental value, but are available. I really want one of the first 3 players on the list to go, as they all need to be on the ML roster and there's not room right now. 2B Piero Folena - Strong bat, average defender. Long-time SS for Rio. 1B/2B Alfredo Ruiz - Ideal lead-off hitter. Borderline Gold Glove first baseman, bad second baseman. 1B/2B Tomas Ramirez (AAA) - Same as Ruiz but slower, less eye, and more power. Still developing his 1B rating. 21 years old and definitely ML-ready. SP Dhrtadhiti Indrani - I can't believe I spelled that right on my first try. Good SP. Probably the most succesful end-of-draft pick in the league (Rd 19). This is the most "available" player on the list. I want to move his salary so I can build my cash reserves back up prior to my next window of opportunity. OF Daniel Clark - Rookie, strong defender at LF passable at CF, great bat against righties. RF Juliano Barrantes - Truly elite bat (8 contact 10 power vs. righties), but don't look at his injury history. Oh and he's injured until next year. Other players available upon request. Rebuilding.

Mostly just feeling out the market here. SP/RP Todd Miller - Control plateaued at 4, but still good enough in his other stats to be useful. He's been an injury fill-in in the bullpen for me for the last few seasons. RP Esteban Lopez - He's got to be worth a bullpen spot somewhere, but he's *just* on the outside for me. I'd probably take a younger prospect with similar potential in return. RP Larry Crippen - Same as Lopez, above. Although I want to keep one of Lopez/Crippen around, for security in case of injury. CF Wilson Perez - Near-ready prospect. 5's across the board in his batting stats, but an elite defender, base runner, bunter. In line to be a utility player in the Rio outfield, if he doesn't get traded. CF Nick Waller - Same as Perez, above, but slightly better bat and not as great of a runner/bunter. This next group of players are all guys I signed for free in the offseason, that I'm really just trying to flip for cash or a 5th rounder. They're mostly players who have aged out of the starting lineup, but could still be useful role-players. Probably no-one wants them, but I'm hoping some teams were just sleeping during Free Agency. They'll probably see the bigs during September call-ups if they're not traded Ayham bin NadhirJuan RomeroCheng-en JiangPedro AlejandreJuan CarbajalShahzad FarooqLet me know if you're interested. *Edited to fix Perez's link

I've got an extra OF. Looking to trade one of them. Otherwise I'll be going short on the infield just so I can carry around an extra pinch hitter. I'm not looking for anything specifically. Just as much value as I can get, whether it be prospects, draft picks, or someone to help my ML team. Could do package deals: e.g., one of the below OFs + one of my SPs for a better SP. RF Shawn Fields--*very* good hitter against righties. Defensive rating of 5 at both LF + RF. Last year was his first in the majors. Joined the ML roster 2 weeks ago after recovering from a spring training injury and is RAKING...but he's about to be reduced to a pinch hit role by Juliano BarrantesLF Scott Gibson--solid but unspectacular hitter. Ratings of 7/4/6 at LF/CF/RF. Ideal 4th OF. Entering arbitration this off-season.

I've got two groups of players that I'm interested in moving: Group 1 - Replacement level (or slightly above) outfielders that you can get very cheaply. They're not doing much for me and I mostly just want to see them go to a good home . A single gamble-prospect is all it'd take for most of them. I'd also accept straight-up $$$ or maybe a 5-ish round draft pick. I want to make sure to keep 2 or 3 of them around for depth in case of injuries, but I certainly don't need them all. I'm not even sure there's a market for these guys at all, but here's the list. CF Tom BallardCF Matthew MartindaleCF Byung-Soo KyungThe above players are basically clones. Each has great defense + speed, and a replacement level bat, and is on a league minimum or minor league contract.. Listed in order of value to me. RF Shawn Fields - 2.5 star outfielder who has yet to appear in the major leagues. 22 years old. Would be a good platoon option in right field. CF Randall Orton - Same as the 3 above guys, but he's getting paid $2M this year and he's got a proven track record--Averaging 4.0 WAR per 162 games over the last 7 seasons and he's still in his prime. But as my team improved to playoff-caliber, he's become replaceable. Group 2--Pitchers. I'm looking to move one right now. At the beginning of the season I had wanted to move one of my young guys, but now I'd rather move veteran SP Rodger Bailey. The guys below are still available as an alternative to Bailey. SP Filippio AmiciSP Todd MillerSP Anibal Quinones

With the ~$5mil that I'm not able to carry over to next season, I've decided to renovate Rio's stadium. New ballpark dimensions are below: I actually wanted to update my stadium last season, but I was having trouble visualizing what the dimensions would actually look like. So this season I decided to draw it out. You'll notice that a couple of my ballpark dimensions are not exactly as they measure out to be in my sketch--I've tweaked the numbers a bit so that OOTP's ballpark factors more closely fit the intent of my dimensions. Similarly, the 9ft wall I've got in right field is a 12ft wall at the section adjacent to the right field line wall, and an 8 ft wall for the rest of it's length. These dimensions should be good for 'extreme pull' lefty batters and typical righties. And the park should get a slightly above average # of triples, which are my favorite.

After 7 years with the organization (since the WBA's inaugural season) 1B Ze Vargas is set to be the first player to enter the Rio de Janeiro Hall of Fame. He's not retired *yet*, but I don't think it's likely he'll ever play again in the WBA (unless someone wants to gamble on his all-or-nothing HR-swing as a pinch hitter), so I'm gonna go ahead and let him in the hall now . In the first two years of the ABL, Vargas was arguably the most dangerous hitter in the league, winning the home run title and Silver Slugger Award both seasons and winning the ABL MVP award in the second. That year (2101) he also set a mark of 48 home runs--the current ABL record (but he's got nothing on Mr. Darchiev over in Mumbai ). Over the next two seasons, Vargas regressed a bit from his MVP form, but continued be one of the league's premier offensive talents, hitting 31 home runs in 2102 and 32 in 2103. In 2103, on the last year of his contract, Vargas was traded to Mexico City at the trade deadline in what turned out to be a very profitable move for Rio. That offseason, Vargas entered free agency for the first time, but was quickly reunited with his old club on a a 3-year deal. His first season back with the club (2104) was more of the same for Vargas, performance-wise, but he only managed a home run total of 26 that year due to some injuries that kept him out of action for 2 months--the first serious injury of his career. In 2105 his hitting ability versus lefties had begun to seriously erode and his defense began to be a liability. That season he was reduced to a platoon role but remained a very dangerous batter against righties, hitting 31 home runs and earning 4.4 WAR in only 103 games started as he lead the team to Rio's Cinderella-story 2105 WBA Championship appearance. In the 2106 season Vargas was given a chance to reprise his role as a platoon player vs. righties, but it soon became apparent that the decline that first began to show in 2105 had only sped up. At 34 years of age I would've expected him to have another season or two in the tank...but time takes us all and he was soon reduced to a pinch hitting role where he struggled to bat over 0.200. For the last weak of the 2106 season, with Rio having nothing left to play for, Vargas was allowed to resume his spot in the starting lineup--a mini farewell tour. That week he showed some flashes of his old self, batting .321 with 2 doubles and a home run, raising his season average from a dismal 0.188 to a still-dismal-but-maybe-a-little-bit-less-embarassing 0.205. Vargas finishes his career (probably) with 577 runs, 863 hits, 221 home runs, 619 RBI's, a .269 batting average, and 28.6 WAR (most of which were earned at Rio). He currently holds the Rio de Janeiro career and single-season records for nearly every major batting statistic. Having been born and raised in Brazil (didn't realize that until I started writing this up. Neat!) and having spent his entire career in Rio (barring the short stint with Mexico City) I think it's fitting that he becomes the first member of the Rio de Janeiro Hall of Fame. Congratulations, Ze Vargas!

My current trading block:
-------------------- !!!CASH MONEY!!! --------------------
I guess I should've broken the bank on a SP in free agency, because now I'm projected to go over the cash limit by ~$5,000,000. If anyone is trying to unload an expensive contract let me know. My preference is for starting pitching. If someone is looking to sell draft picks, that works too.

In my linked screenshot, everything from the second exclamation mark (from the top) and up is my regular messages. The 2 sim result emails below that are for Tokyo and LA. And the contract negotiations below that aren't mine either. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Block has been updated. I've traded one of my young middle infielders, so now I'm just dealing the older guys. Here's what I'm primarily interested in hearing offers on... 1. Back-of-bullpen relievers. Since joining this league I've been stockpiling relievers trying to find a diamond-in-the-rough. Now I've got about 7 alright-but-not-particularly-good relievers between AAA and ML, of which I only need 2 or 3. They helped my AAA team to a title last year, but now I'd like to clear some space for younger guys. If you're looking to fill out the back of your bullpen, take a look and see if you find one you like. Heck, take 2 or 3 :-). They're quite cheap. 2. One of the 3 older guys below. All 3 are performing well this season, and I don't have room to start them all. Not looking for prospects of any certain position--just the best deal I can get. Or draft picks. - 1B Ze Vargas - Big HR threat. On contract through next year.
- 2B Ricardo Ramirez - Very high OBP guy, on a ridiculously cheap contract this year (last year of the deal).
- 2B Beni Mokate - Solid-but-not-spectacular batter who can play 1B/2B/SS Has a player option for next year.
Let me know if you're interested.

New block as of 13 June 2016. I'm in full sell mode because my team is awful and I'm losing a couple good players to free agency anyways. Everyone's available, but here's a run-down on my top-rated players (all in the ML): SP Jose Ramirez http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_191.htmlThe world's worst 5-star pitcher. Leads starters in K/9 (and has done so before), but to cancel it out he also leads them in HR/9. 3 years left on his contract. He probably steals candy from babies. Yes, I am bitter. CL Bereket Ainran http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_1912.htmlSame as Jose Ramirez, but somehow gives up significantly more home runs. These guys have to turn it around eventually, right? CF John Parker http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_116.htmlThis guy is actually good. Great defense, steals bases, bats ~.300. Ideal leadoff hitter. Last year of his contract. 1B Ze Vargas http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_35.htmlReliable 1B. Gets lots of HRs and BBs. Signed for 3 years in the offseason because I thought my team was going to be better than last year. 2B Ricardo Ramirez http://www.worldbaseballassociation.com/reports/news/html/players/player_314.htmlCareer High OBP guy, but on the decline. Very friendly contract next year, should he come anywhere close to his old form. Guys on the the last year of their contracts that you might want to look at: RF Jesus Bautista--Led the league in home runs last year, but starting extremely slowly this year. Gamble. SP Luis Vazquez--Still on his rookie contract. Good for an ERA of ~4.00. Looking for young guys. Willing to do prospect swapping if that's what you want. Pretty much anyone in my organization is available except for 3B Ernesto Colon (I've grown emotionally attached to him, as he was my first signing upon joining the league :-) )

Hey everyone, glad to be in the league! I've only got a few weeks of experience with OOTP, so I'm going to be using this thread to help me get up to speed. I'll have more questions later tonight, but I want to get the most pressing one out there right away: How should I be handling my finances? I started digging through my team last night and found that I've only got ~3million available in my budget. *However* the AI currently has something like $24 million dollars in free agent offers currently pending. Since I'm definitely in rebuild mode, I expect that this is very bad, and that I'm going to want to cancel most of those offers before the next 7 days are simmed so that I don't get stuck with the contracts. And that leaves me with the question: How much *should* I be spending? How much am I physically (digitally?) allowed to spend? What are the ramifications of going over budget?
