I think it's a 2116 3rd round pick because the 2115 draft is going on right now and we're way past the third round.  Huck can verify, but Mumbai confirms with the aforementioned understanding that it is getting a not yet made 3rd round pick in the next possible draft.

Trade Blocks and Discussions / Mumbai FIRE SALE!!!
« on: August 23, 2018, 07:23:55 PM »
Alright guys, the merry go round has stopped spinning in Mumbai, and it's time to tear it down.  The win now window has slammed shut due in large part to the recent league-wide changes in salary demands.

This is a legit fire sale.  Every single player on my roster is available.  Normally, one would say that if it's not bolted down, it's for sale.  In Mumbai, it's gotta go even if it's bolted down.

This is one of the most talented major league rosters in the WBA.  A bunch of perennial All Pros.
Yes, some of my guys are impending free agents, but that just means that you can get them for a 5th round pick or a cheap lottery ticket prospect and try to get a head start on signing them before they hit the open market.  A THIRD of the twelve top free agents according to Huck are Mumbai players.

Want to win a championship?  I guarantee that the team that does next season will have signed one or more Mumbai players.  Don't let the opportunity pass you by.

LINKS:

Under Contract
Isko Fflunker - It's like he was created in a lab--five tools is a complete understatement.  The ratings seem outlandish.  7 contact (.300 hitter), 10 power (50 HR) with no platoon split, 8 eye (100 walks), 50 SB speed, and gold glove defense range in center field.  Still earning the minimum, not even arbitration eligible.  You'll need to blow me away with your offer if he's involved.
Tony Gutiérrez - Probably deserved the IBL Cy Young for having an 0.91 WHIP pitching in Mumbai. 10/6/7. Stud in his prime.  Signed to a very reasonable $8.7m per season contract for three more seasons.
Domynguos Belsar - Two Dominant seasons in a row despite playing in the Mumbai launching pad. 8/7/6, just signed a one-year $1.4m deal.
Augustyn Eidenschenk - Closing in on a hall of fame career at 2B. 4 Gold Gloves, 2 Silver Sluggers, still putting up 3-5 WAR seasons.
Yi-mou Fen - It's not easy to find a gold glove SS that can hit 20-35 HR a year. But this guy can.  Just $2m per year for two more years.
Manny Flores - Tore up the IBL after being acquired at the trade deadline.  Exceptional fielder that will hit .300 and steal 40 bags.  Not even arbitration eligible yet.

Impending FA (so available for super cheap if you want to try and sign them before they hit free agency and get bid up by other owners)
Jesús Huerta - Best third baseman in the IBL, maybe the world.  14+ WAR over the last two seasons.
Serhat 'Conman' Karpat - The greatest SP in WBA history. 7/7/7. One more good season left.  Asking for $11m.
Balya Virendra - One of the best closers in the league. 10/7/6 with a career 2.73 FIP and 149 ERA+.  Asking for $8m.

General WBA Discussion / Re: Draft pick trading
« on: March 14, 2018, 02:03:27 PM »
I'm all for freeing up the ability to be more creative in trades.  Here's a couple of ideas that Huck and I were discussing earlier and he encouraged me to post here to get a discussion going.

1. The ability to trade pick swap rights.  Swap rights are worth less than a draft pick itself, and so it's another way to trade draft capital worth less than a 5th rounder, which is what we're trying to accomplish.  For example, Bob trades me $10m.  I trade him a 5th rounder and the option to switch picks in Round 3.  Bob's option would get exercised if I finish with a worse record than Bob and therefore pick earlier than him in Round 3.  Pick swap rights would obviously have to tag along if Bob later decided to trade his 3rd round pick for a year's worth of Icy Hot for Andy Stone.  Or we could just prohibit Bob and me from trading our 3rd rounders because pick swap rights have been traded...this kind of prohibition will make tracking much easier for Huck.  The most famous recent example of pick swap rights being traded is the Kevin Garnett/Paul Pierce trade to the Nets, which included the Nets giving Boston the right to swap 2017 first round picks.  That right to swap picks ended up giving Boston the first overall pick in the 2017 draft (which they later traded to Philly).  So don't be like the Nets, folks.  Or be like them if it results in a championship...flags fly forever.

2. A draft pick in a range.  For example, Bob trades me $15m.  I trade him whatever pick I have between #26 and #35 overall, i.e. a 3rd round pick if it's in the back half of Round 3 or a 4th round pick if it's in the front half of Round 4.

Thoughts?

General WBA Discussion / Re: One Year In...
« on: February 28, 2018, 08:34:30 AM »
I remember Huck saying that the proportion of player nationalities was tied not only to the country populations but also to where the franchises were located. So if the Manila franchise moves to New Zealand, we should get more normal names! Hell, the IBL team could be based out of Auckland. Cool fact about Auckland - being situated at the intersection of so many waterways, there are tons of swimming holes. Auckland Holes has a nice ring to it. And it's easy to pronounce.

General WBA Discussion / Re: One Year In...
« on: February 27, 2018, 11:37:49 PM »
Next year everybody on Mumbai is gonna have at least one Westernized first name. Andy Subbarayudu at first, Blake Dwijen in right field, Yancy Fen at shortstop, Samuel Karpat on the mound. Don't want to change the last names though, this is an international baseball league after all. Plus keeping the last name lets me avoid the weirdness of having to ask Huck to change the photos of my players so their faces match their names...

General WBA Discussion / Re: Prospect Lists

I'd be okay with updates occurring three times a year:

1. Before the season starts.
2. At the All-Star Break (which would put it before trade discussions really heat up in this league)
3. At the end of the season.

Any more seems excessive to me personally...that's basically how often the major publications in 2017 update their top prospect lists, right?

Forgot to add that I would love a full platoon option in OOTP, as well. Think about resource allocation if those were the rules.

This guy recently signed by Mumbai would have been a bidding war. As it is I let him go once Mumbai beat my offer.

Carlos Rodríguez
Lol so THAT'S why I got bid up on him...

WBA Times / Re: Updated 2110 Predicted Standings
« on: October 04, 2017, 11:54:49 AM »
If you wanna hit, then play the field. That's the design of the game. The fact that people figured out over time that one position on the field could be far more valuable for their defensive contribution than their offensive doesn't mean that position shouldn't have to hit.

Why only one DH? Do you not realize how much better leaguewide defense and offense could be if baseball just went ahead and allowed full platoon substitutions? Either do it or don't do it, making an exception for one guy out of nine is just silly.
I generally agree and I'm still annoyed the Astros got forced into the AL.

That being said, I'm not insistent on the if you want to hit play the field for pitchers. I'd be fine with a batting order of only eight, with the pitcher being removed rather than replaced.

WBA Times / Re: Updated 2110 Predicted Standings
« on: October 04, 2017, 10:23:02 AM »
Haha yeah. I have fingers crossed that Stone and Karpat both get hurt... no way I can win the IBL otherwise.

My top two pitchers, Karpat and Jose Ramirez, are both coming off torn meniscus surgery.  The Mumbai season may rest primarily on

1. The quality of the pitching mounds around the IBL

2. My pitchers realizing that with my lineup being as good as it is, the best thing for them to do at the plate (give us a damn DH Huck!) is stop trying to bunt for hits, run the bases aggressively, etc.

3. Just call the cops if you see a mugging, don't try to be a damn hero.

4. Hire a freaking handyman, genius.

Uh... something's not right here. I know Mumbai improved but I'm only put at 6 games above .500? And there's no way Rome comes third in their division.

Man I would be THRILLED if I clinched a playoff spot with a month left in the season because you were 18 games behind.  Would need to line up my starting rotation and give old man Karpat a breather before October baseball commenced.
