2114-15 Offseason Thread
« on: August 23, 2018, 07:19:55 AM »
This is the thread for all discussion of offseason activities during the 2114-2115 offseason.  This first post will be updated throughout the offseason and will also include links to other threads or amendment votes that come up during this time. We are preparing for the WBA's 16th season. The offseason will follow the usual DAILY sims.

Sim to 4/2/2115 is complete. Next sim is Sunday 9/16. NEXT SIM IS THE FIRST OF THE REGULAR SEASON, ORGANIZE YOUR ORGANIZATIONS OR THEY WILL BE AUTO-ORGANIZED BY THE AI. ALSO REMEMBER TO PLACE ALL ACTIVE PLAYERS ON THE 40-MAN ROSTER.

Tentative offseason sim schedule:

Date - Sim to In Game - Sim Notes

Sunday, September 16, 2018 - Monday April 9, 2115 - First regular season sim, if rosters aren't set up before this sim then the dreaded AI auto-organize button may be used

Free Analysis (you get what you pay for):

In the ABL, Ottawa has been the major mover and has added eight full games to their predicted record but it's not yet enough to get in the playoff race. Los Angeles was the other mover thanks to a couple of under-the-radar signings that really solidified some holes on their roster, and probably also comparatively decent development results. These two North American teams took their wins straight from the Latin American Division when you compare the two prediction runs so far.

In the other circuit we look like we're going to have a great playoff race as there are 5 really good teams. And in the most amazing development for those who have been in the WBA for a while, PARIS HAS A GOOD BASEBALL TEAM! The recent signings of Puli, Morales, and Himes have turned the perennial Afro-European doormat into a postseason contender overnight.

Technically in that prediction you're in a one game playoff for the playoffs. So it's a sort of playoff position.

Updated Predicted ABL Standings through last sim:

NORTH AMERICAN DIVISION
TeamWLPCTGB
Carolina Flight87690.558-
Northwest Emeralds76800.48711
Mexico City Aztecs72840.46215
Los Angeles Stars69870.44218
Ottawa Whiskey Jacks67890.42920

LATIN AMERICAN DIVISION
TeamWLPCTGB
Santo Domingo Palmchats108480.692-
Puerto Rico Coqui85710.54523
Sao Paulo Toucans74820.47434
Rio de Janeiro Jaguars71850.45537
Buenos Aires Dolphins71850.45537

Looks like a crazy race for the last wild card spot is in the, uh, cards. Five teams within 4 games of the last playoff spot, and could it be?!? Andy's Northwest Emeralds are predicted to make the playoffs after only one season out of the postseason thanks to some shrewd free agent signings. Obviously it will be a tight race and there are some potential difference makers still on the market as teams wait for them to realize they're not going to get much money this season.

Will try to get an updated IBL prediction out later today.

FINAL UPDATES

Also, in terrible news for me, I found an error in my spreadsheet which of course affected my team more than any other because my spreadsheet is how I build my team. Not enough not to be the favorite, but still a big impact.
