Adopting the usage of a designated hitter across the WBA universe will allow for a variety of positive changes to the league. Here are a few.
- Our league player database is filled with generated players that can hit but can't play defense. These players enter the WBA with no future unless a manager wants to risk wedging one of them in at first base.
- AAA is littered with quality hitters that could play on a role on big-league clubs if we add the DH. Adding the DH will provide the league with new stars and stories we otherwise miss.
- Pitchers go all out on the WBA basepaths because they don't know any better. This leads to injuries that are unrealistic. In real life pitchers know to take it easy and protect their bodies. In the WBA pitchers don't have that luxury.
- DH usage allows for lineup versatility. Teams will be able to incorporate a wide range of options with the new rule. Not only will teams be able to place different types of unused bats into the lineup, they can use it to rest star players but still keep their bat in the lineup.
- It extends the careers of our favorite stars
